Last night (December 5th) I went to a Paramore concert at the Dr. Phillips Center. This concert was originally scheduled for September 9th, but due to Hurricane Irma it was rescheduled for December. For this concert, I went with my mom and one of my friends I have made in college. My dad was supposed to come, but he had some PhD homework to do. I'm so proud of him.
This was my third time seeing Paramore. I saw them once at a Christmas concert at the House of Blues at Downtown Disney which is now Disney Springs, and once at the CFE Arena during my sophomore year of high school. However, the seats for this concert were the best by far. The reason is at the House of Blues there is limited seating and most of it is standing only. Then for the CFE Arena while we had a good view we were at an angle. But for this concert we were Orchestra Center, Row H seats 111-114. We were on the floor and were eight rows back from the stage, but were dead center. It was an incredible view.
For the concert, the merchandise was almost sold out as it was the second to last stop. However, I did buy a shirt that had all the shows listed on the back. It was white with a black and white picture of the band with accent colors of lavender, turquoise and hot pink. My mom bought a black shirt with a white daisy on it with Paramore written in the center.
The opening act was a band called Flor. We did not see much of them as we were waiting to buy merchandise, but the limited amount of what we got to see was hard to judge. The singer's mic was not loud enough compared to the noise from the instruments, so it was hard to hear.
After an intermission, it was time for Paramore to hit the stage. The band opened up with the most known song off their newest album "After Laughter" which was "Hard Times." Following that, the band played a lot of their hits over the years including "Misery Business", "Ain't It Fun", "Daydreaming". "Still Into You" and some others. As for new material, it was "Hard Times" which I previously mentioned, "Fake Happy", "26" and "Rose-Colored Boy" with which they closed with.
It was an amazing concert and had all the old-school vibes that reminded me of the Paramore that I listened to in middle school and early high school. Like any band, the music as evolved as the artists has grown up. The reason is compare a song written ten years ago called "Misery Business" to a song that came out this year like "Hard Times" and there is an apparent difference between the two. Either way, I loved Paramore then and I still love Paramore now.
