Blogmas Day 4: Feeling Peachy

Saturday December 2nd, 2017 was the American Athletic Conference Championships. The AAC Championship game was between my school, University of Central Florida, and Memphis University.

UCF was going into the game with a 11-0 record. However, it was also known that the head football coach may be returning to his alma mater to coach. After the game, it was announced Coach Frost was returning to his alma mater making this game his last at UCF. However, that is not the focus of the article.

For this game, it started at 12:00 and the color to wear was black. I wore a mock jersey that I found at a local Walmart with the number thirteen on it with jeans. Normally I will do glitter in my hair and on my face for the games, but for this one since it was so early I just did face stickers and pulled half of my hair back. I met up with one of my friends that I’ve known since elementary school at the beginning of where they due the March to Victory (it’s the street that leads to the stadium).

We walked to the stadium and it was definitely more crowded than usual. Which I will attribute to it being a championship game and UCF was then 11-0. So, we waited outside the student gates until about ten minutes after kick off shuffling towards the gate like a herd of penguins. Great times…

After that we quickly headed to the student section in the North Endzone (we only watched the first half of the game there before heading to the other student section because of the sun). at first, we were down and then we came back to tie it by the end of the first half. Before the end of the first half, we headed down to get food and to beat the half time rush. After two years of either super salty or cardboard pretzels and hot dogs we finally found a concession stand with burgers. We paid ten bucks for a BBQ Bacon Burger and chips, and it honestly was probably the best thing I had in that stadium. You also cannot forget about that $6 bottle of smart water.

With our food in hand, we headed to the South Endzone (fun fact; I once called the endzone the “touchdown area” when explaining the game to my dad. I’m more of a hockey girl if I do say so.) we were pretty much at the top of the stadium, but it was all good because we could still see the big screen. In the second half we were able to tie and then get ahead before Memphis tied it. Luckily in double overtime, UCF won!

It was absolutely amazing to watch them win even with it being nerve wracking at points. However, UCF is now 12-0 and is Peach Bowl Bound. (Expect an article on that coming early January!)
