Last Minute Halloween Ideas

Today is Halloween. That means it’s officially the end of October and there are two months left in 2017. This year has really seemed to fly by. I will say for the first year, I do not have any sort of Halloween plans, so I didn’t take the time to plan out an outfit. I feel like we’ve all been there at least once when a holiday shows up and we are not the slightest bit prepared.
So, these are last minute Halloween ideas that you can do with supplies around the house. This is for all the procrastinators out there (a.k.a me). Most of these will be extremely basic as it is the day of and not much thought has gone into these. Because, I know that I will watch a youtuber’s or go on Pinterest for last minute costumes and not everyone has a hot glue gun, felt, wire and a tulle to make a tutu just lying around.
Black Cat:
Yes, I know this is extremely basic. I also know this is typically done by buying the set of a tail, a black bow tie and black cat ears from Walmart for 8.95. Or you can set it up a notch and DIY it and save yourself the nine bucks. Here’s what you will need
Wear all black clothes (black dress or black leggings & black t-shirt of any length)
Black head band
Black cardstock or white card stock & a black marker
Tape
Eyeliner
Safety pins
Black tie or a black scarf
For the ears
Cut out two triangles whatever size you would like from your black cardstock
Or if you are using white you will still cut out the two triangles but use your black marker to make the triangles black
Then using the tape, take the two triangles and space them out how you want and then tape them in place on the headband
For the face
Take your eyeliner of any form and draw a triangle on your nose
Then on each cheek draw three whiskers
For the tail
If you have a tie safety pin it where you want your tail to be
Or if you have a scarf, tie it around you waist and have the extra material hang down in the back and there you have your tail
M&M:
There is pretty much every color of the rainbow and then some with the special edition M&Ms out there, so here’s what you will need
Clothes in one color of your choice
White duct tape or white paper & tape
To create this look, you will either be cutting out an m on your white sheet of paper and taping it to your shirt, or you can use the white duct tape to directly make an “m” on your shirt. It’s as simple as that.
Mean Girls:
“I’m a mouse, duh” “that’s so fetch” and “On Wednesdays we wear pink.” These are just a few iconic phrases from the movie Mean Girls. Obviously, Halloween is on a Tuesday, but that doesn’t mean it’s too early to wear pink. For this costume, you will need
An all pink and girly outfit
Heels/wedges
Puffy paint
On a pink shirt you don’t mind decorating, write in puffy paint “On Wednesdays We Wear Pink” that way you’re not explaining your costume the whole night. Bad handwriting? Use stencils or iron letters instead of freehanding it.
Child You:
This will vary from person to person because we were all children during different years or someone could chose six year old them while another picks their two year old self. For this I will be doing what I wore when I was in late elementary school/early middle school. Supplies needed for this costume:
Solid color shirt
Colored leggings
Black skirt
Two hair ties
Two bows
Sneakers
Backpack
Stuffed animal
For this costume I would tuck the shirt into the skirt with the leggings underneath with the sneakers. I will be using the hair ties to create pig tails, but make them high and at different heights. Then attach a bow to each side and put the stuffed animal just slightly sticking out of the backpack. Obviously, it is not the same outfit I wore as a kid because my clothes are now from Target and Forever 21 versus Limited Too(now Justice) and the Children’s Place
The Bachelorette/ Bachelor contestant:
This show is my guilty pleasure. I will compete in the Bachelor Fantasy League or a pool for the show. I absolutely love it and I got this idea last year. (Fun Fact: I went as the Bachelorette for a friend’s Halloween party last year and I will insert a photo below.) Here’s what you will need to complete the look
A long dress (Bonus if it’s Red)
A fake/real rose

Scarecrow:
This costume is fairly makeup heavy, so if you’re not the best at makeup and don’t have any friends who could help you with this look, then this costume is probably not the best for you. Here are the supplies needed
A flannel
Black leggings/black pants or jeans/overalls
Boots
Orange, black and white makeup (traditional scarecrow) or any color instead of orange (for a more fun and customized look)
Non-DIY Ideas:
Walmart has a lot of costume accessories and even the dollar store sometimes carries these, so here are some for those who don’t want to DIY a last-minute costume but also don’t want to drop fifty bucks on an outfit that will get worn for a night
Costume 1: Princess
Wear your best dress/old prom dress
Buy a tiara/crown
Costume 2: Angel
Wear all white
White tutu
A halo
I hope these ideas give you some inspiration as what you will dress up as this year. Happy Halloween!
